Goals/Objectives for 2007/2008
- Author a “white paper” on spring weekend so all members of the community have access to a complete overview of accurate information.

Identify authors of the “white paper” by June 30, 2007.
- Have an authors meeting by July 15, 2007, (Julie Elkins, Betsy Patterson, Kevin Grunwald).
- Develop an outline and assign sections to authors by July 30, 2007.
- Gather initial information for the paper by September 30, 2007.
- Complete writing of first draft by October 15, 2007.
- Circulate the draft throughout the community for feedback by Nov. 1, 2007 with a feedback deadline of Nov. 15, 2007.
- Incorporate feedback and send out a second draft by Dec. 1, 2007 with a final deadline for feedback of Dec. 15, 2007.
- Write final paper by Feb. 1, 2008.
- Initiate a voluntary “good neighbor/responsible business” agreement with license holders.
- Research and collect copies of agreement from other partnerships by October 1, 2007 (Julie Elkins).
- Work with grant steering group to incorporate into goals of the grant by October 2007 (Ruth Freeman)
- Develop an outreach plan to area license holders by November 2007 (Ruth Freeman).
- Work with license holders to develop an agreement by February 2007 (Ruth Freeman, Julie Elkins).
- Hold a press conference to announce the signing of the agreement by April 1, 2007 (Ruth Freeman, Julie Elkins).
- Recruit landlords, neighborhood residents and other stakeholders to join the MCCP.
- Identify key landlords to recruit to the partnership (Jim Hintz).
- Recruit neighborhood residents to the partnership (Jim Hintz).
- Increase our participation of landlords and residents by 5 members by December 1, 2007.
- Develop a qualitative research project to assess change of language within the Daily Campus.
- Make initial contact with the Daily Campus to ask permission for the project by September 1, 2007 (Julie Elkins).
- Draft a research design, and submit to IRB for approval by October , 2007 (Julie Elkins).
- Identify student assistance to download data to software package (Carolyn Lin).
- Secure a lap top computer with Atlas-ti software package to load the data by October 1, 2007 (Julie Elkins).
- Download data by December 1, 2007 (Carolyn Lin).
- Complete analysis of data by March 1, 2008 (Julie Elkins and Carolyn Lin).
- Draft paper of research by April 1, 2008 (Julie Elkins, and Carolyn Lin).
- Enhance visits to off-campus students.
- Identify a point-person to facilitate visits by August 3, 2007 (Matt Hart)
- Create a written format to be used by outreach teams comprised of University officials, Town officials and students by August 20, 2007.
- Jim Hintz will design and print door hangers to be distributed with outreach visits.
- Conduct Fall outreach visits by September 10, 2007.
- Conduct Spring outreach visits at least 3 days prior to spring weekend.
- Update MCCP brochure.
- Gather updated information for the new brochure (Jim Hintz).
- Draft updated brochure by October 1, 2007 (Jim Hintz).
- Circulate new brochure by November 1, 2007 (Jim Hintz).
- Introduce legislation to local political leaders.
- Create a sub-committee of students to identify potential areas of change by October 1, 2007 (Julie Elkins and Ryan McHardy).
- Identify two key areas for consideration and present them to the MCCP for feedback by December 1, 2007 (Julie Elkins and Ryan McHardy).
- Finalize specific areas for advancement by Feb. 1, 2008 (Julie Elkins and Ryan McHardy).
- Meet with area political leaders to discuss and launch a plan by March 15, 2008 (Betsy Patterson, Julie Elkins, Ryan McHardy).
- Work with political leaders to gain support and advance agenda.
- Conduct annual presentations to town council, region 19, board of education, USG and UCONN board of trustees.
- Create a small working group to prepare presentations (Matt Hart).

- Begin to schedule and present to various entities by December 1, 2007 (Matt Hart and committee).
