About the Partnership
Mission
The mission of the Mansfield Community-Campus Partnership is a collaborative, ongoing partnership between Mansfield residents, students and the University of Connecticut to improve the quality of life for all members of the community. Currently the group is developing short term strategies and long term goals for the partnership.
History
In the spring of 2003, University of Connecticut President Philip Austin appointed a Task Force on Alcohol and Other Drugs. One central recommendation from the taskforce was to create a community-campus partnership to jointly work on issues facing the Town of Mansfield and University of Connecticut communities.
In the fall of 2003, President Austin and Mayor Betsy Paterson (Town of Mansfield) appointed founding members to the Mansfield-Community Campus Partnership (MCCP). The members included students, community residents, town officials, police officials, and faculty and staff of the University. The founding co-chairs were Mayor Betsy Paterson, Town of Mansfield and Julie Elkins, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs (UConn).
The Mansfield Community-Campus Partnership has continued under UConn President Michael Hogan and is currently co-chaired by Mayor Betsy Paterson, Town of Mansfield and Jim Hintz, Director of Off-Campus Student Services (UConn).
